About
DharmaBase lists Buddhist teachers, their recorded talks and the places connected to them. Most entries so far cover Tibetan teachers, especially of the contemporary Chokling Tersar lineage, and the Thai Forest tradition. Smaller groups cover Burmese and Western Theravada, Zen, Chan, Seon and Pure Land teachers, and early Indian masters such as Nagarjuna and Shantideva. Others are added once they can be properly sourced.
How entries are checked
Teacher and place pages end with their sources and a verification level.Editorial means we wrote it from published sources and nobody else has reviewed it yet. Sourced means each claim is tied to a specific published work. Reviewed means a named, lineage-authorised advisor has read it. Most entries are editorial today.
Teacher portraits come from openly licensed collections or from the people who hold the rights, and each one is credited. We do not use AI-generated images of real teachers.
What this site is not
DharmaBase describes teachers and teachings. It does not give personal spiritual guidance and it does not replace a qualified teacher or a community of practice. Where a teacher has an organisation, their page links to it.
Corrections and help
If something is wrong, use the contact form with the page address and, if you can, a source. Volunteers run the site, and the same form is the place to offer a photo or help with research or review; how to help has the details, and past fixes are on the corrections page. To propose a monastery, temple or retreat centre, use suggest a place.
