An online meditation session led by Garchen Rinpoche with English translation: looking at the nature of mind, working with thoughts, then a long period of sitting.

A guided meditation session from the Garchen Buddhist Institute’s online programme. Garchen Rinpoche speaks in Tibetan and a translator gives the English aloud. After an opening prayer, he explains that meditation means looking at the nature of the mind, citing Milarepa’s song on the six perfections, and that immeasurable love and compassion are the starting point.

He tells practitioners not to reject thoughts or follow them, but to let them be, and describes thoughts liberating themselves like ice melting into water. A long period of sitting follows with little speech. The session ends with the world peace prayer, and he asks listeners to carry the practice into daily conduct.
