An Insight Meditation Society Facebook Live in which Joseph Goldstein talks about his book The Experience of Insight, the early years of IMS and insight practice.

John Spalding of the Insight Meditation Society interviews Joseph Goldstein about The Experience of Insight, first published in 1976 and the basis of an IMS book club. Goldstein tells how he came to practice in Thailand and India, and how IMS began in Barre, Massachusetts. He then describes insight practice itself: seeing impermanence in finer detail, letting go of clinging as the heart of the path, and working with thoughts, moving from a single object of attention to open awareness.

He leads a sitting of about five minutes on the breath and the arising of thoughts. Viewer questions follow, on love and attachment, the relation between Buddhist traditions and sleep on retreat.
