Dhamma Bhuvana (“Earth of Dhamma”) is a Vipassana centre in Warin Chamrap district, Ubon Ratchathani province, in north-east Thailand. It teaches Vipassana as taught by S. N. Goenka in the tradition of Sayagyi U Ba Khin. Dhamma.org gives 2023 as the year it was founded and calls it the twelfth centre of this tradition in Thailand, which makes it one of the newest.
The centre stands on about 12.4 acres of flat land, away from the surrounding community and among quiet farmland. Dhamma.org says it will hold 70 students once all construction is finished.
Ubon Ratchathani is also the province of Ajahn Chah’s monasteries, so a trip here can sit alongside a visit to Wat Pah Pong and Wat Pah Nanachat. Those are forest monasteries; this is a lay course centre with a different method and routine.
The schedule offers ten-day courses, three-day courses for old students, and occasional Satipatthana Sutta courses for experienced students. The centre’s page gives the language of instruction as English and Thai unless a course says otherwise. Many ten-day courses in the schedule carry the comment “Thai speakers only”, while others do not, so a non-Thai speaker should apply only to courses without that comment.
A ten-day course follows the format in the Code of Discipline: twelve days counting arrival and departure, Noble Silence, five precepts, men and women kept apart, and set interview hours. Courses are run on donations from students who have completed a course.
Visiting
This is a course centre, not a place to drop in. Read the Code of Discipline, then apply through the dhamma.org schedule page. Many courses are marked "Thai speakers only", so check the comments column before applying. Thai students apply through thai.dhamma.org. Courses run on donations.
