Suan Mokkh Bangkok is the popular name of the Buddhadasa Indapanno Archives (BIA), the Bangkok arm of the work of Buddhadasa Bhikkhu. The Suan Mokkh hermitage describes it as a modern building beside a small lake, just outside the north-western edge of Chatuchak Park.

Its stated purpose, on the English section of its site, is to collect, preserve and share Buddhadasa’s work, in line with his three aims, one of which is understanding between religions. The same page features his talks and books and lists upcoming events.

For visitors, the International Dharma Hermitage, which runs the ten-day retreats beside Wat Suan Mokkh, describes the Bangkok centre as having facilities for meditation, lectures, discussion and exhibitions, with open-air areas and a large bookshop of Thai and English Dharma books. It says activities are held regularly and that most are in Thai, with more in English in the making. It also says the present activities do not include meditation retreats.

If you want a retreat rather than a day, Wat Suan Mokkh in Surat Thani, which Buddhadasa founded, and Dipabhāvan on Koh Samui follow the same tradition.

Visiting

Most activities are in Thai; the Suan Mokkh hermitage says more in English are in the making. Check the archives' site for events before you go. The archives do not currently run residential retreats; for a ten-day retreat in the same tradition, see Wat Suan Mokkh in the south.
