Wat Dhammamongkol is on Soi Sukhumvit 101 in Phra Khanong district, Bangkok. It belongs to the Dhammayut order, and Thai Wikipedia says it was raised to a third-class royal temple on 23 March 2025. According to Thai Wikipedia it was built in 1963 on what had been scrub land, where Luang Por Viriyang Sirintharo used to stay while walking into Bangkok. A lay couple donated the land. Willpower Institute USA says he took up residence on the site in the early 1960s and that the temple project, with its gardens, classrooms, dormitories and meditation facilities, was completed by his supporters in 1985.

The monastery is large. Thai Wikipedia describes a tall stupa whose base houses the classrooms of the Willpower Institute, a large green jade Buddha image from Canadian jade, and a garden area laid out to resemble a forest cave for meditation. The Willpower Institute teaches the meditation methods of Luang Por Viriyang, who said they came from the lineage of Ajahn Mun, and has taught from the temple since it was founded in 1997.

For visitors, the institute is the way in. Its English site lists an introductory meditation course at the temple, a course for children and teenagers, and a Meditation Instructor Course, and says the introductory courses need no experience. Terms, dates and fees change, so read the current course page at english.samathi101.com and enrol through it.

The temple itself is a working monastery with several hundred monks, according to Thai Wikipedia. If you want to visit outside the courses, ask the institute first.
