In this talk
An intermediate to advanced meditation class: Ajahn Brahm talks about the smile as part of posture, guides a body scan, then sits in silence and answers questions.
Ajahn Brahm leads an afternoon class for people who already meditate, with a talk of about fifteen minutes first. Answering a comment about boredom, he calls the smile part of posture: lifting the corners of the mouth when the mind will not engage, and enjoying a walk with no plan or goal. He sums up the practice as making peace, being kind and being gentle.
He then guides a body scan from the legs and buttocks through the waist, throat, shoulders and face, and moves into the present moment. About 35 minutes of silence follow, ended by the gong.
The question session takes online and in-person questions on ill will, strong energy in meditation, sitting at night, restlessness while ill, whether an enlightened being passes through the jhānas at death, and patience when joy or light appears.
