A weekly online teaching by Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche, given on Chinese New Year, on letting go as the heart of practice when loss and self-doubt arise.
Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche gives one of his weekly online teachings, spoken in English with no translator. He starts from the sense of having failed as a practitioner after a loss, and explains how the ego claims credit for good work and uses knowledge of the Dharma to grow bigger. He then says that the real choice is to let go, and that this does not mean becoming passive or neglecting the body or one’s affairs.
He uses the image of a child who will not take the third wheel off a tricycle, discusses the pressure to know without a basis, and says loved ones may do better to listen than advise. He closes with a New Year greeting and asks listeners to see the year’s changes as deepening.
