Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche in conversation at a Boulder Book Store online event for his book Peaceful Heart, on the Buddhist practice of patience, with audience questions.

An online book event with Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche, spoken in English. The bookshop’s event coordinator opens, and an interviewer asks questions about Peaceful Heart, Rinpoche’s book on patience, drawing on Shantideva’s chapter on patience. Rinpoche describes how anger arises when we do not get what we want, or get what we do not want, and why it does not remove the obstacle.

He covers practising with small irritations, the difference between indulging the ego and working with one’s own wisdom, and the worry that patience makes us a doormat. The last third answers audience questions, including how to work with deeply ingrained reactivity and with trauma, where he speaks of forgiveness and of unbiased love.
