Talk by Anam Thubten from March 2020 on using the Buddha and Tara as sacred models in a time of crisis, with a Green Tara mantra chanted together, published by Dharmata Foundation.
Anam Thubten speaks early in the Covid-19 pandemic about living through instability. He proposes a small practice: when speaking of others or facing difficulty, ask what the Buddha would do. He describes his own teachers as dignified, loving and, in his word, cool, and quotes a phrase of Michelle Obama about going high when others go low.
He argues that a conscious choice to follow the bodhisattva path can make a single day of practice count for a great deal, then turns to Tara, whom he presents as the Liberator within each person. The closing part introduces Tara and leads about five minutes of her mantra recited together, followed by brief closing words. The recitation is only partly captured by the auto-captions.
