A guided meditation in English led by Ajahn Jayasaro at Abhayagiri Buddhist Monastery, California, on 18 October 2013. Published on the channel Dhamma by Ajahn Jayasaro.

Ajahn Jayasaro guides a sitting in English at Abhayagiri. He starts with posture as an expression of self-reliance, then describes meditation as sustaining a clear sense of knowing, and warns that taking peace as the goal means aiming at an idea of peace. He lays out the four right efforts and the need for chanda (enthusiasm), suggesting reflections on past suffering and on teachers who trained themselves. After resolving not to feed thoughts, he leads a body scan with the breath in four areas, with silent pauses, then narrows to one point at the nose and invites the meditator to enjoy the breath.
