A guided meditation by Ajahn Jayasaro offered during an online conversation with the Buddhist Community at Stanford, 13 June 2020. Published on the channel Dhamma by Ajahn Jayasaro.

Ajahn Jayasaro opens with posture as a balance of effort and relaxation, then explains the four right efforts as the framework for working with the breath. He advises checking the level of interest (chanda) at the start, and reviving it by recalling suffering caused by defilements and the example of great teachers. He guides awareness of the breath through four areas of the body in turn (head and neck, arms, torso, hips down), then the whole body, then a single point such as the nostrils or upper lip. The session closes with a teaching on mindfulness as not forgetting the object and clear comprehension as quality control, which notices too much effort, sleepiness and wandering.
