Ajahn Jayasaro was born in 1958 on the Isle of Wight, England. He went to Thailand and in 1978 became a student of Ajahn Chah at Wat Nong Pah Pong. Ajahn Chah was his preceptor when he took full ordination as a bhikkhu in 1980.

In the late 1990s he became abbot of Wat Pah Nanachat, the monastery Ajahn Chah founded for English-speaking monks, and he held the post until the end of 2002. Since 2003 he has lived in a hermitage near Khao Yai National Park in Nakhon Ratchasima province. He was later granted Thai citizenship.

He teaches in both Thai and English. His talks, guided meditations and question-and-answer sessions are published by the Panyaprateep Foundation and on his YouTube channel, and his books are offered free as PDF and EPUB downloads on his site. They include Stillness Flowing, a biography of Ajahn Chah which senior monks of Ajahn Chah’s lineage entrusted him to write.

His guided meditations in English are on the channel; most of those listed run under fifteen minutes, with some much longer. His site lists retreats he leads; programmes change from year to year, so check there for current arrangements.
