Mingyur Rinpoche explains that awareness is like space, which clouds cannot pollute and which is always pure.
Mingyur Rinpoche compares awareness to space: clouds cannot pollute it, and nothing, not even the earth or the galaxies, can obscure, cut or burn it. He says that relying on changing things, including thoughts and emotions, makes happiness rise and fall like the stock market, and describes the mind as a flag blown about by anger, worry or low mood that arrive unwanted. Freedom of mind comes from working with the mind itself, he says, through the practice of awareness. Calm, pliability and spaciousness are experiences of meditation, but awareness is its essence. He adds that it is difficult at first for everyone, himself included, and grows easier with practice.
