Part 2 of 4 · Bodhicitta and the Bodhisattva Vow

Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche completes the generation of aspiration bodhichitta and explains who may take the bodhisattva vow and how, with English translation.

Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche teaches on the bodhisattva vow in an afternoon session, with a translator speaking the English. He completes the generation of aspiration bodhichitta through five concluding steps, including never mentally abandoning any being and avoiding four harmful acts, such as deceiving the venerable, together with their four opposite virtues.

He then turns to implementation bodhichitta. He sets out the two Indian lineages of the vow, the profound view of Nagarjuna and the extensive deeds of Asanga, and covers who may take the vow, from whom, and how it is taken with or without a preceptor. He closes with the three moral disciplines of a bodhisattva, which he says are built up gradually, and notes that he will give the vow the next day.
