Part 3 of 3 · Four Noble Truths and Dependent Origination

Day 3 of the Bodh Gaya teaching: a bodhichitta ceremony with refuge and a short meditation on emptiness, mantra transmissions, and the close of the Rice Seedling Sutra.

The Dalai Lama opens the last day by thanking students who recited the praise of the Nalanda masters, then leads a bodhichitta ceremony for those leaving early. He has the audience visualise the lineage masters, say the seven branches, take refuge and repeat the aspiring bodhisattva vow. A short meditation follows on the emptiness of the Buddha and of oneself, using the argument from the Middle Way that neither is found in the aggregates.

He gives the mantras of Avalokiteshvara, Manjushri and Tara, and returns to the Rice Seedling Sutra on ignorance and the twelve links. He ends by recommending a gradual order of teaching and asking for harmony among religious traditions.
