The Dalai Lama, in Tibetan with English translation, reads Middling Stages of Meditation on compassion, bodhichitta, calm abiding and insight, and begins the Thirty-Seven Practices of a Bodhisattva.

On the second day of a teaching, the Dalai Lama reads and comments on Middling Stages of Meditation at Disket, Nubra Valley, on 12 July 2017, in Tibetan with English translation. He begins with identifying suffering as the ground for compassion, moves to loving kindness and to cultivating bodhichitta by equalising and exchanging self and others, and distinguishes conventional from ultimate bodhichitta.

He then covers calm abiding and special insight, the obstacles of distraction and dullness, with examples from friends who have meditated for years, and the reading of suchness and emptiness. The text closes with the path through the bodhisattva grounds. He starts the Thirty-Seven Practices of a Bodhisattva before a closing prayer.
