Part 1 of 2 · Guide to the Bodhisattva's Way of Life, Leh 2018

The Dalai Lama, in Tibetan with English translation, teaches Shantideva's Guide to the Bodhisattva's Way of Life, from its lineages through the chapters on enthusiasm and meditation.

On the first day of a series, the Dalai Lama teaches Shantideva’s Guide to the Bodhisattva’s Way of Life at the Shewatsel Teaching Ground in Leh on 30 July 2018, in Tibetan with English translation. He places the text within the Indian lineages of the profound view and the vast conduct, recalls how he received it from a teacher who practised it daily, and outlines the ten chapters, calling the chapters on patience and on exchanging self and others the most important.

He then reads and comments on the chapter on enthusiasm, with its reflections on laziness, death and the precious human body, and on the chapter on meditation, including solitude and the reasoning for cherishing others over oneself.
