Part 2 of 2 · Guide to the Bodhisattva's Way of Life, Leh 2018

Day 2 of the Dalai Lama's Leh teaching on Shantideva's Guide: calm abiding and insight, exchanging self and others, and the wisdom chapter on the two truths.

On the second day of the Leh teaching the Dalai Lama begins with the right motivation for teacher and listeners, a refuge and bodhichitta recitation, and a note on how the word “I” in that verse points to selflessness. He then completes Shantideva’s chapter on meditation: single-pointed concentration free of excitation and dullness, the insight it supports, and insight used against ignorance. He reads the verses on exchanging self and others and on turning against self-cherishing.

In the chapter on wisdom he explains the two truths and the Middle Way reply to the mind-only view. He ends by placing study above ceremony, before a long-life empowerment.
