In this talk
Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche opens a Sunday teaching on the Heart Sutra in Hong Kong, in English, with a silent sitting, a talk on insecurity, and the start of the mantra.
Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche opens a Sunday teaching on the Heart Sutra in Hong Kong, in English, by saying he is unqualified to explain the words of the Buddha and asking listeners to set their motivation. He leads a silent sitting with one instruction, to sit and do nothing else. He then speaks about boredom, loneliness and a basic insecurity that people cover over with food, shopping, clubs and status.
He presents prajnaparamita as protection against fixation on concepts, retells the sutra as the outcome of a gathering on Vulture Peak, and begins the mantra, reading the first gate as going from the mundane to the sacred. The recording ends at the break.
