Part 1 of 13 · Sixty Stanzas on Reasoning, Kathmandu

The opening session, on the choice of this text, why view comes first, and the homage on dependent arising.

Rinpoche opens the seven-day teaching with remarks on the setting and on how he will teach: as an academic study rather than a formal teaching with prayers and blessing. He introduces Nagarjuna and says the group asked for Madhyamaka and he chose this text, and the image of a sick baby weaned off milk shows why emptiness is taught before Buddha nature. He reads the homage to the Buddha as a statement of dependent arising, argues that view matters more than conduct, and names three ways of establishing it, keeping reasoning and analogy for this teaching. The recording ends mid-sentence, with definitions of existing and being true still to come.
