Part 1 of 2 · Teachings on Tara, Sao Paulo

Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche on who Tara is and how perception shapes the practice, given in English in Sao Paulo on 12 June 2014.

In the first of two sessions on Tara, given in English, Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche starts with the motivation for teacher and listeners, mentions a change of plan between Tara and a sutra, and asks for pure perception, which he says tantric teaching needs. He describes Tara as the compassionate activity of all buddhas and, at the deepest level, emptiness and clarity in union.

He uses the idea of longing to explain why tantra gives emptiness colours and forms, tells of a lama who prayed to Tara in prison, and ends by listing the outer, inner and secret calamities Tara is asked to protect against. The recording stops at the break.
