Part 4 of 6 · The Four Seals of Dharma

Fourth session of Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche's series on the four seals: practice that changes the mind, death, and Atisha's verses, published by DharmaSun.

Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche begins with a handwritten sutra that students brought from Ukraine, prays for peace, and says kindness is the source of what is good. He then asks what reciting texts is for. It counts as Dharma only if it changes the mind, and he warns against practice that stays at the level of show.

He goes on to karma and rebirth, the certainty of death, and bringing death onto the path, including practising recognition as one falls asleep. He returns to impermanence and the suffering of ageing, sickness and death, then goes through Atisha’s verses on supreme learning, discipline, pith instruction and remedy. He describes the real signs of accomplishment, then Atisha’s last verse on supreme conduct.
