Part 5 of 6 · How To Meditate
Part five of Yuttadhammo Bhikkhu's How To Meditate series: a warm-up of mindful prostration before walking and sitting.
Yuttadhammo Bhikkhu presents mindful prostration as a warm-up before walking and sitting meditation, and as a way of showing respect to the practice itself rather than worshipping a person or deity. He first performs a traditional Thai prostration of three bows, then repeats it slowly while noting each movement three times: “turning”, “raising”, “touching”, “lowering”, “bending” and “covering”. He ends by moving from prostration into the walking and then the sitting, noting “sitting” and “standing” so that awareness stays unbroken.
