Part 4 of 6 · The Four Dharmas of Gampopa
Morning session on the third dharma, the path dispelling bewilderment: suffering and its causes, then Vajrayana generation stage through the guru, yidam and protector.
Rinpoche begins the third dharma, the path dispelling bewilderment, from the Four Noble Truths: the three sufferings, karma and the afflictions as their causes, and how the lesser and greater vehicles abandon them. He presents Vajrayana as the supreme path, by which one can under ideal circumstances reach the state of Vajradhara in one life, and teaches the generation stage through the three roots: gurus, yidams such as Vajrayogini, Chakrasamvara and Avalokiteshvara, and Dharma protectors.
He explains why empowerment, instruction and reading transmission are needed, reads samaya as a promise to practise, and closes with the three marks of a generation stage session, which are clear appearance, stable pride and recollection of purity, and with continuity between sessions.
