Part 6 of 6 · The Four Dharmas of Gampopa
Final session on the fourth dharma, bewilderment arising as wisdom: the eight consciousnesses, three ways of looking at the mind, and the five wisdoms.
The final morning takes up the fourth dharma, bewilderment arising as wisdom. Rinpoche goes through the eight consciousnesses, from the all-basis and the afflicted mind to the five senses, and the third Karmapa’s account of how bewilderment becomes wisdom because beings have buddha nature.
He links tranquility to the thoughts of the sixth consciousness settling and insight to the all-basis recognising itself, then teaches three ways of looking at the mind: in stillness, in thought and in appearances. He separates this from the mind-only view, lists the five wisdoms that result, and ends with thanks to the hosts.
