Part 7 of 13 · Sixty Stanzas on Reasoning, Kathmandu

How an illusory path ends illusion, the four truths, and the stanzas from impermanence to selflessness.

Rinpoche answers the question of how an illusory path can end an illusory samsara. He separates establishing the view through hearing and contemplation from applying it, quotes a dedication prayer that calls merit, beings and enlightenment illusory, and tells of a bodhisattva ready to quit with two of three countless eons of work still ahead. The four truths, with a headache as the example, show that the problem is not what you are and that path and problem exhaust together, like a knife and whetstone. He reads stanzas leading from impermanence to selflessness and describes the stage where idle conversation loses its appeal, before a break.
