Part 8 of 13 · Sixty Stanzas on Reasoning, Kathmandu
No true dwelling, emptiness not denying appearance, why karma is taught, and a long question session.
Rinpoche reads stanzas saying that the wise see the world as illusion because nothing truly dwells, taking changing likes and dislikes as the example. He stresses that emptiness does not deny the face in the mirror, that clinging to emptiness is the greater danger, and that deep calm abiding is not liberation. He explains why the Buddha taught karma and merit before emptiness. Audience questions follow, translated, on whether Madhyamaka measures meditation, applying the view while practising, whether the sky or a person stays the same over time, how to wake from the dream, wisdom against emotion in family conflict, and the word isolated in one translation.
